Because we are going through a chronological study of the Bible in IDC Kids, we will cover The Last Supper this Sunday, April 4. But we didn’t want to leave you without anything to help teach the events surrounding Easter Sunday. The following are some external resources and activities if you’re looking for ways to teach the crucifixion and the resurrection including videos and lesson plans from The Gospel Project.

Resurrection Rolls
Many of you will remember this very helpful and yummy activity from last year.
You’ll need:
1 package of crescent rolls
1 package of large marshmallows
3 tbsp of melted butter
3 tbsp sugar plus 1 tbsp cinnamon 

Preheat the oven to 350. As you wait for the rolls to bake, read “God’s Wonderful Surprise” from your Jesus Storybook Bible or watch it online: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nfnhv5h0k4M

The marshmallow represents Jesus’ body.  Roll the marshmallow in butter and cinnamon sugar representing when Jesus’ friends prepared his body for burial with oil and spices. Then wrap the marshmallow in the crescent roll (be sure the seal all the edges tightly) which represents the tomb. Place them in the oven for 10-12 minutes. Allow them to cool completely before opening the tomb to see that Jesus’ body was gone!

As people began to turn against Jesus, He  journeyed toward Jerusalem where He knew He would be arrested and crucified. Jesus continued to tell people that they needed to repent, and He prepared His true followers for His death. Soon after Jesus arrived in Jerusalem, He was betrayed, arrested, tried, and crucified. 

Key Passage: Philippians 2:8 And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.

Big Picture Question: What did Jesus do to save us? Jesus lived a sinless life, died on the cross, and rose from the dead.
