About Us

Welcome to IDC Kids, a safe and secure environment where children can learn and grow. Our primary goal is to support parents in their efforts to disciple their children. It is our desire to see children 1) Know God 2) Grow Together and 3) Go On Mission.

KNOW GOD
We want our kids to go beyond just knowing stories and facts to allowing the gospel to transform them from the inside out. As our curriculum states, “When kids truly experience the gospel, their hearts are transformed. It is the gospel, not good behavior, that changes everything.” While in our care, children will learn who God is, His amazing redemptive plan to rescue us from sin and death, and how we can join Him in His mission. (Hebrews 4:12,  John 17:3)

GROW TOGETHER
We aim to create a positive environment where relationships flourish and the love of Christ is exemplified. Whether that’s through small children receiving loving care from our volunteers or older children spurring one another on in their faith, everything we do is designed to inspire children to love one another and grow in their knowledge of their Savior. (1 John 4:7-21, 2 Peter 3:18)

GO ON MISSION
The body of Christ is made up of members who have different functions and our kids have a unique role in evangelizing the world. We encourage children to know the story of scripture and the role they have to play in it, use their talents and gifts for the glory of God, and have compassion for others-recognizing and meeting the physical and spiritual needs of those around them. (Romans 12:4-8, Matthew 28:19-20)

When kids truly experience the gospel, their hearts are transformed. It is the gospel, not good behavior, that changes everything.

PARTNERSHIP IN DISCIPLESHIP: CHURCH + PARENTS

While we put a great deal of effort and resources into teaching children while they are in our care, we don’t believe this is the primary method of discipleship for our kids. We believe that takes place in the home. Discipleship doesn’t have to be a structured program; it is our prayer that parents take advantage of daily opportunities to talk with their kids about Jesus.

As a church, we believe our primary role is more of a support role, one that encourages parents in their efforts to disciple their kids. One way that we can do this is to provide solid gospel centered teaching while children are in our care with the intention of establishing a firm foundation in the lives of even our youngest attenders and then provide opportunities for parents to reinforce these lessons at home. On Sunday mornings and during the Discipleship Hour our volunteers use the Gospel Project Curriculum to walk kids through the whole of Scripture from Genesis to Revelation teaching stories both familiar and unfamiliar. Each Sunday, we communicate the daily lesson, provide followup questions, suggest at home activities and ideas for family worship with the purpose of giving parents a practical way to have deeper conversations with their children about what they learned at church.(Deuteronomy 6:6-7 Ephesians 4:11-13)

SUNDAY MORNINGS
On Sunday mornings during both the 9:00am and 11:00am services, we provide childcare for babies and one year olds, while children two through four years old will have video lessons and activities led by volunteers.

Most of our Imago Dei Church members serve in childcare. Because of this, your child will rotate through different volunteers each week, all of whom have passed a back ground check and received childcare training. Every classroom will always have at least two adults present at all times. For more detailed information regarding our policies and procedures, visit idckids.com and look under the Resources tab.

Once a child turns five, she is invited to attend corporate worship with her parents and the primary method of learning will become the Kids Discipleship Hour.

THE DISCIPLESHIP HOUR
During the 4:00pm Kids Discipleship Hour, consistent weekly volunteers teach children the grand redemptive Story of Scripture. Elementary students experience the lesson in both large and small group settings. The Pre-K Discipleship Class is for four and five year olds who have not yet entered kindergarten; children will learn through direct instruction and hands on activities. Childcare is provided for birth-three year olds. Parents with children in childcare and PreK must remain on campus during the discipleship hour.

Drop off begins at 3:45pm. Check in at the IDC Kids Check-In Stations located at the front of the preschool hallway. Please keep your security sticker as you will need to show it to your child’s teacher at pick-up time. After checking in, please walk your child to their room. Kindergarten-5th Grade meet in the back hallway of the church. The Pre-K classroom is located in room 117.

When your child arrives, teachers will greet you at the door and usher your child into the room. Preschoolers begin with free play and elementary students can choose from a variety of board games and STEM toys to play with. At a designated time the children will move to large group for worship and the lesson. After large group time children will return to their room and break up into small groups where they do activities that reinforce the daily lesson and discuss application points as well as spend time in prayer.

The Discipleship Hour ends at 5:15pm. For security reasons, we do not allow siblings under fourteen years of age to pick up children.
